Reflection: “Turn your face toward the sun and the shadows fall behind you.”
Today, I’m grateful for: sunshine
Challenge: Get your dose of vitamin D ☀️
I don’t know about you, but the weather this week has definitely been a spirit-lifter for me. I took my calls on the deck, sat in the sun every chance I could, got all my plants and baskets arranged and we even enjoyed a family game night on the deck tonight.
I don’t think I realized how frumpy and slumpy the long winter had me feeling. The warm temps and sunshine are practically an instant mood-booster for me, and I’m feeling grateful for the break from the dreary days of winter.
I saw a quote the other day, and it really spoke to me. It read:
“Turn your face toward the sun and the shadows fall behind you.”
I’d like to think of myself as a positive person, but the last few weeks have definitely tested my energy. I like this quote because it feels tangible, approachable, achievable. I may not be able to control my circumstances or see into the future or change my outcome, but I can do this: turn my face toward the sun. And that feels good...physically, mentally and emotionally.
The sun is our life force. It offers light, heat and enables the production of oxygen and food through the plants we grow. So I suppose it would only make sense that we would have some sense of instinctual bliss that comes from exposure to sunlight.
Today, I’m grateful for the warmth and bliss from the sun, and the enjoyable time outdoors that it enables.
