Reflection: Out children teach us more than we could ever imagine.

Today, I’m grateful for: a stroll around the house

Challenge: Let your kiddo take you on a tour around the house.

Calvin is in a phase right where he will randomly come up, grab my hand and drag me around the house. There doesn’t appear to be any rhyme or reason to where we’re going or why. But I’ve found a unique sense of joy in this small innocent gesture.

It’s clear he has no worry about the past and no worry about the future, and is just living, intensely in that moment so unapologetically excited by our mini-adventures around the house. And for just a moment, I am too. He disrupts whatever thought or task or fear that may be running through my head and for just a moment, in that moment, I am free.

There have been many times throughout my journey of motherhood that I’ve reflected on the lessons my son has taught me. We may think we are their teachers, but in all honesty, the learning is mutual. He, how to eat, walk and talk. I how to be patient, let go and live in the moment. And those are just a few examples. Just as he guides me on tours around the house, he guides me through new lessons and joys of life. And I am so grateful.

Today, I’m grateful for my son, my tour guide, and our mini-adventures that represent so much more than just a little stroll around the house.
