To-do’s and To-day’s

March 17, 2021

Reflection: There will always be more “to-do”, but all we have right now is to-day.

Today, I’m grateful for: A productive day

Challenge: Practice living in the present.

Today was a busy, but productive day. My husband and I had the day off, and we took full advantage of the opportunity to get some things done! Despite a full day of running errands, I still have this overwhelming weight of the many, many things left to do. With a baby on the way, a basement to finish, and the craziness of work, my mind feels like it’s going a million miles a minute at all hours of the day. And that doesn’t even account for the bandwidth spent with my son.

I reflected on this a bit, and I’m struggling to make sense of it all because this sense of “never ending to-do’s” has been a thing for a while. Is this just an inconvenient coincidence? A short-term phase as a result of the pandemic? Or is this a new state of motherhood that I’m just now finding the words to articulate my feelings for?...I’m honestly not sure, and I’m also not sure I want to know!

Regardless, this is just another example of an opportunity I have to surrender. To let go. To not try to figure it all out, and to just do my best with what I have right now in front of me. Today’s busy-ness also brought an enjoyable day spent with my husband. A lunch date. And an opportunity to spend the entirety of a day in uninterrupted dialogue with my spouse. What a blessing! Each day brings new excitement and new challenges, and no matter the reason, I have to keep giving it my all for me, for my family and for what matters most....love.

Today, I’m grateful for a productive day, and an opportunity to reflect on the wonderful, wild life we live.

Now here’s a pic of my kid being cute and festive. 🍀
