Reflection: I’ve got the whole world in my hands.
Today, I’m grateful for: a strong AND compassionate father for my son
Challenge: Thank your partner for the role they play in your and your family’s life.
Calvin had his first-ever “swim lesson” today. I say “swim lesson” because let’s be honest, four toddlers splashing around in a pool with their parents isn’t exactly a lesson and the only real “teaching” going on is more for mom and dad than anything. But regardless of what we call it, the look of curiosity and intrigue on Calvin’s face as he approached and entered the pool was priceless.
This isn’t his first rodeo in the pool. We spent many summer days at our family friends’ pool last summer. But this was his first experience in the pool as a, now, conscious toddler and despite the record-high temps we’ve been having this week, the pool and swim lessons are obviously indoors.
Despite a little apprehension along the way, Calvin looked like a natural in the water. It brought me back to his baby days in the summer at the pool where he would get into what we called his “happy place” all settled back and relaxed.
As I watched my husband wade him in and out of the water singing a water version of “hokey pokey” and “humpty dumpty”, I couldn’t help but get emotional! My whole world was splashing around in that pool and I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude and love toward my husband watching him be the best dad. 🥰
Today, I’m grateful for new experiences, a loving partner and father for my son.
