Reflection: Newborns are equal parts east and challenging.

Today, I’m grateful: A visit from sweet baby Lennon

Challenge: Consider what your favorite things about maternity leave are? Your least favorite? Why?

Today, we got to hang out with our friends’ sweet baby girl, Lennon while her big brother went to swim lessons for the first time. She is about 3 months old and is so sweet and easy. As Calvin prepares for his debut as big brother, I jump at any opportunity to introduce him to what it might be like having a “baby sister” around. And it’s so fun watching his curiosity.

The real treat, unexpectedly so, was the ease and sweetness of just SITTING and holding baby Lennon. No reckless scaling of chairs or jumping off couches. Just simple, boring ol’ sitting. Don’t get me wrong, I love my wild, adventurous Calvin, but the drastic shift from the chaos to the quiet was a nice break. 😅

It makes me excited for maternity leave. As challenging as those first few weeks with a newborn are, how quickly I’d forgotten the joy of my sweet babe snuggling on my chest. Today, I’m grateful for a sneak peek into what it’ll be like with two littles at home, and a reminder of how innocent and amazing newborns are.
