Reflection: Spring is near(er)
Today, I’m grateful for: refreshing time outside
Challenge: Take advantage of the warmer temps this week, and get outside!
Another snowy day here in the Midwest. On the bright side, it was also paired with some of the warmest temps we’ve seen in weeks. So as the snowfall fizzled out and the temps creeped up, we decided to venture out for a little snowy family play date.
Having a toddler in a pandemic in the middle of winter doesn’t exactly lend itself to “getting out” much, and I’m saddened by the fact that my son hardly knows what a store is, let alone any of the fun, activities our city has to offer. So I shouldn’t have been surprised by his perplexing response to the snow.
But after a few minutes, he seemed to have a hang of the awkward waddle through the snowy drifts. And was ready to head off and explore. I think the fresh air did us all some good. We could even hear the birds chirping in the distance offering encouraging glimpses of the idea of spring. Anyone who’s lives in the Midwest long enough knows better than to expect spring to show up just yet, BUT it was an encouraging sign compared to the subzero temps we’ve been enduring more recently.
Today, I’m grateful for some refreshing time outdoors. And I’m looking forward to being able to get out here more soon! Walks, fresh air and just generally being outdoors is something our family thrives on and I’m excited for the warmer weather ahead.
