Today, I’m grateful for: My parents

Words can’t describe how grateful I have been for my parents during this time. The quickness to help. The no-questions-asked support. The willingness to take Calvin at the drop of a hat. It’s been a long time since I’ve felt like I truly needed my parents the way a child needs their mother or father. But in all honesty, I need them right now. I need their support, their care, their love, their concern, their help. And it’s not easy to ask for that kind of help. Especially as a grown adult. To slow down, pause, and let go of the expectations I’ve set for myself. To raise my hand and say I need you. To take off the veil of shame that I wear because I have to admit “I can’t do this alone”.

I’m so grateful to have my parents during this time, and I truly don’t know what I’d do without them. I hope that someday, my children will know they can lean on me the same way I have been able to lean on them.
