Today, I’m grateful for: My parents 🤍
Today, and many days in the last few weeks, I’ve felt so grateful for my parents. They have been such a huge help during this challenging time, and I honestly don’t know how we’d do it without them.
From the moment I was in the hospital for the first time to now, my mom has been there every step of the way. Her care is steady and compassionate. She loves our son so fiercely. And she holds a safe, loving space for him bringing every bit of love and care that he needs to help him feel as normal as possible during this time. I’m so grateful for my mom and the peace of mind I have knowing our son is safe and loved.
And my dad. He keeps it fun. Trail rides, tractor spins and, on special occasions, he’ll even share his popsicle. 😊He and Cal are best buds now, and I’m grateful for all the fun my dad shows Calvin.
I could sit and dwell on all the what if’s…I think they’ve all crossed my mind at some point, like what if we didn’t live in town? Or if my parents weren’t physically able to care for a toddler? Or if we didn’t have jobs that equipped us to work remotely and forced me to be alone in the hospital while Dan went to work….just to name a few.
But I choose to focus on the now. To find gratitude in each moment. To remember that if I am OK, and baby is OK and my loved ones are OK, that this is a moment to be grateful for. Today, I’m grateful for my parents. For their continued love and support in caring for our son and helping us get through this trial. I can only pray that a year from today, we will look back on this time with a gratitude that we don’t quite understand yet.
Until then, I focus on keeping our sweet girl safe and growing one day at a time.
