Reflection: Home is lent a place, it’s a feeling.

Today, I’m grateful for: our home

Challenge: What do you love about your home?

This month marks four years that we’ve lived in our home. We designed and built these digs in 2017, and we’re so thrilled to move in and call this place home. I remember waking up in the middle of the night to get some water shortly after we’d moved in, walking into the kitchen and feeling like I was in some fancy hotel that I was going to have to check out of in the morning. 🤣 There are still days I am in awe that we get to call this place home.

Our first home was a little fixer upper, and we spent three years demoing and renovating our little 700-square foot cracker box...or “Judy” as we called it back then. With Fern green carpet, a blue bathtub and butterfly accessories throughout, we certainly had our work cut out for us. But we made that little 1950s gem our own and lived, loved and learned every step of the way. (I still think every couple should be required to do at least one major home project as a form of premarital counseling....😅).

So you can imagine when we moved into our new home, why it felt like such a fortress! Our home is our oasis. Our safe space. Our comfort zone. And especially-so in this past year. I don’t think we ever could’ve anticipated how much time we’d be spending at home. The warmth, comfort, safety and peace of mind our home brings is priceless, and I am so grateful that we get to wake up every day and go to bed every night in this little castle we call home.
