Reflection: A new season is upon us

Today, I’m grateful for: A beautiful day perfect for reflection

Challenge: What unexpected memories do you recall from a year ago?

The weather today was a glorious blessing offering hope, inspiration, and if nothing else, a reason to be in a good mood. It kicked off early this morning as the crisp, fresh air moseyed in and out of our room like a breezy heartbeat teasing glimpses of the beauty this day had to offer. I stepped out onto the deck to see a beautiful sunrise and memories came flooding in. Waking up to sunrises on the beach in Kauai, mountain fresh air in Canada and even a simple cup of coffee enjoyed at a morning breakfast in Mexico.

But most of all, I remember last summer. As the world came to a halt and our son spent 4 months home with us, we would wake up each morning, walk out onto the deck and wish the sun good morning. “Good morning sun! Good morning trees! Good morning birds!”, we would say. It didn’t feel like a memory at the time but as Calvin and I stood on the deck this morning watching the sun begin to peep above the horizon, I couldn’t help but notice the words on the top of my tongue....”Good morning sun”, I said.

Despite the challenges 2020 had to offer, I’m grateful for the lessons and opportunities it provided. As a new season is upon us, I look forward to not only the joys of more togetherness, new activities for my son and sunshine, but also the lessons I’ll take with me. Things like learning to slow down and be patient with myself, reminders to give myself grace, and the value, simplicity and joys of just being at home.

What better day than Easter to offer an opportunity for joy, reflection and a renewed sense of hope. Here’s to you, 2021. I have a good feeling about you. 💕
