Reflection: A little fresh air and sunshine go a long way.
Today, I’m grateful for: a good day
Challenge: Reflect on your day. What made it special?
Today was a good day. It kicked off with a leisurely trip to a local farm with a friend where we browsed locally-grown organic herbs and vegetable plants for sale. We topped off our trip with some homemade organic lemonade and a car side chat to catch up. It was so nice to get out of the house, especially on such a beautiful day.
Next up was a quick trip to Home Depot to grab some pots and soil for my new herbs. The garden center was full of people picking up their plants for the season. It was oddly refreshing seeing so many people out and about. People seemed joyful, optimistic, and dare I call it....normal?
I swung by Chipotle on the way home to pick up an easy lunch. When I got home, I realized they’d given us an extra guacamole. Bonus guac! After lunch, we laid down for a family nap. One of the benefits for me of having a small child that naps is that it kinda forces me to slow down. When he’s resting, I don’t have to feel guilty that I’m not giving him enough stimulation or activity, and I can take advantage of the opportunity to rest.
After a little rest, I sat outside in the sun for a bit and read my book while we waited for Calvin to wake up. Relaxing in the sun has a serious positive affect on my mental health.
After Calvin woke up, we went outside to play in his little pool. It’s so fun watching him explore and enjoy new experiences as a toddler. He loves being outside and we love to watch him be the curious little boy that he is!
We wrapped up our day with a yummy dinner and our normal bedtime routine complete with bedtime stories and sweet bedtime songs.
Today was a good day, and I’m feeling so grateful.
