Today, I’m grateful for: “Date night”

Since my mother-in-law has been pretty tied down caring for my father-in-law after his kidney surgery several weeks ago, she hasn’t been able to help with Calvin much, or really visit us at all for that matter. But she called this morning, and offered to pick Calvin up from school and spend some time with him for a few hours this evening. Which gave Dan and I an opportunity to have a low-key, dinner for two right at home.

Don’t get me wrong, it was far from your typical idea of a “romantic date night”….we ordered takeout, sat on the couch and caught up on our favorite show….but it was some much-needed quality time just for the two of us. And it gave Dan a reprieve from the dinner-time/kitchen-clean-up chaos that he’s been grinding through lately.

We hold onto whatever we can these days, and today I’m feeling grateful for some 1:1 time at home with my husband.
